Mr. Lowry,
The email below made its way to my desk as it is being spread over the
internet and as I will spread it to my entire address book. I never knew that
the National Review Online was a podium for the type of bigotry this article
portrays. I'm a mutt. In tracing my heritage from France arriving in the US in
1733 to the present, I have come to know that America and American ethnicity
may start in one part of the world or another. But, over time the big melting
pot creates a bunch of mutts that make this country great. While Mr.
Deberyshire claims to be a Christian and presents his bigoted view on
Palestine and Palestinians, he should realize that no country or group of
people can be identified by the mistakes that may have been made in the past.
What would that say about the US and the American Indians that were
slaughtered in the name of progress. Or African Americans that made their way
here in shackles to be brutalized once again in the name of progress. At one
time there were discussions about send them all back to Africa. Unfortunately
the American Indians could not send all of our ancestors back when we came
here and took over their land.
There is no room for the spread of bigotry in the civilized society that we
fight and die for. Obviously, someone did not consider this trash to be
bigotry... but let me tell you it is. I'm not an Arab American. I have no
connection to Palestine that I am aware of but recognizing that there have
been many generations since my Lord has walked on this earth, I really don't
know. You might as well excommunicate me and any one else that isn't of Mr
Derberyshires pure blood, but that's right his family changed their name to
hide their impurities.
